The best desktop Twitter appTwitter’s official TweetDeck desktop app has finally come out of beta, and joins the site and mobile apps as part of the redesign so you can follow any number of Twitter and Facebook accounts you run in a column application. The biggest change with this version of TweetDeck is that it is no longer installed via Adobe AIR, which will get started on the small bit (function () {(‘review-app-page-desktop’);}); The look and feel of TweetDeck is largely unchanged. It’s clean and easy to understand, and still probably the best app for using multiple accounts. The default setting has a home stream with updates from all your accounts together. Then there is the @ Me feed, which shows all interactions with you on Twitter or Facebook. Finally, there is an inbox for instant messages on Twitter. You can add any of these from a selection of things like lists or tweets, and removing any of them is imperative if you use more than one Twitter account. It’s easy to use and very clearly designed with the added security of Twitter official support. Making a proper installer so that Adobe AIR is not required is a major improvement to previous versions easily:
Now your columns are arranged in a continuous horizontal row, allowing you to navigate left and right with the scroll bar.
You can browse multiple columns at a time by clicking the arrows on either side of the Columns button in the upper toolbar. You can also click the Columns button to see the full list of all columns in your TweetDeck and access to any column immediately.
Manage your columns:
With the addition of the new column button it is now easier to organize your columns. When the drop-down menu is open, just hover over the drag icon to the right of the column name you want to move, click and drag the column to its new position, and then release.
Discuss what happens:
A menu icon on each Tweet gives you instant access to more Tweet actions, such as Create Link, and user-related actions, such as Block. This allows you to report a spam user, add an account to a list, delete your own Tweet and more, all without having to leave the main column easily:
